We are very excited to introduce you to Libby Hay, Deliveroo Australia’s Head of Corporate Affairs!
1. What is your role at Deliveroo?
I work with the business media and government, to make sure Deliveroo’s voice is heard on topics that matter to our business. Building strong relationships is key!
2. What is your background?
I have around 20 years experience in strategic communications, corporate affairs and government relations roles, helping companies build, protect and promote reputation. Most recently I was at MYOB and before that I was at Sensis. I’ve worked for other leading brands, such as Energy Australia, Lion (Dairy and Drinks) and ALDI stores. I’m passionate about working for strong brands in interesting industries and helping them grow and thrive by shaping the right environment in which they can operate.
3. What are some of your favourite aspects of working at Deliveroo?
It’s been a really interesting experience joining a company while in lockdown, so I haven’t had the usual full immersion experience of being in the office with everyone. However, I have to say that everyone has been so friendly and welcoming, and responsive to any questions I have. I definitely feel part of the team already – and I love the passion that everyone has for all things Deliveroo.
4. What are your go-to restaurants on the Deliveroo platform?
I love to support my local restaurants, especially during this COVID-19 time, so my go to is a local Thai restaurant in Port Melbourne.
5. Fun facts about Libby:
I live part of my time in Melbourne and also in Barwon Heads on the Bellarine Peninsula, where I am a volunteer firefighter with the local CFA. We respond to all sorts of calls, day and night, from house fires to motor vehicle accidents to gas leaks. I also deployed twice over the summer during the horrific bushfires to affected areas – it was an incredible experience. I got my truck driver’s license last year, so I am also driving the fire trucks!
