Surviving Summer

Surviving Summer

Winter be gone, hello Summer. While it may be beautiful outside, it’s not always easier riding in the Australian sun. We’ve put together some helpful tips to get you through this summer heat safely and comfortably.

Hydration – You should keep a bottle of water on you at all times and drink regularly when you’re thirsty.

Sunscreen – To protect yourself against UVB radiation, you should apply sunscreen. It’s recommended that you apply sunscreen 20 minutes before you go outside and then re-apply every two hours*.

Trust your body – Only you know how you’re feeling and what your limits are. If at anytime you feel unwell, it’s important that you stop riding and get in contact with live support if you’re unable to continue.

Rest & Refuel– When riding throughout the day, you need to make sure you’re allowing yourself time to take some much deserved breaks. You should rest up in shady areas to give yourself additional protection from the sun and bring snacks on your ride such as energy bars, nut mix, banana, etc. to make sure you’re properly fuelled.

*Different sunscreen products vary, so be sure to check the label.
