Why social distancing is crucial

During the COVID-19 outbreak, we want to ensure that we can continue to support our riders and restaurant partners, while bringing food to the millions of people across Australia who need it during this concerning time.

In order for us to do this, it’s extremely important that you follow all of our contact-free pick up and delivery policies and the Government’s social distancing measures so that we deliver safely.

Unfortunately, we have received reports that some riders are not following social distancing rules:

During the COVID-19 outbreak this behaviour increases the risk for you, other riders, our customers, and our restaurant partners.

If you ride with Deliveroo, you must:

  • Respect social distancing guidelines and stay at least 1.5 metres away from others, including other riders, at all times. Riders should not gather in groups anywhere – especially outside or nearby restaurants – when waiting to collect orders as well as in between orders.
  • Follow all of Deliveroo’s contact-free policies on every single order – both when you are picking up food at the restaurant and delivering it to the customer.

If a delegate regularly uses your account, you must also ensure they comply with these policies.

We will act on all reports we receive from riders, restaurants and customers about riders who are not complying with their safety obligations or failing to maintain a safe distance from others.

Failure to do so will result in those riders’ contracts being ended.

If you see other riders not following these guidelines, please report it to our Rider Support team.

Remember, if you start to feel ill or test positive for COVID-19, follow all medical advice from the Australian Government Department of Health, do not log in to your Rider App and let us know immediately by contacting our Rider Support team.
